Fly from Europe (London, Berlin, Milan, Cologne) to Hong Kong with Oasis airlines. Oasis airlines are the first long haul budget airline in the world. Stay and check out Hong Kong and what it has to offer. Remember you are right on the door step of China and Macau.

Next stop is the popular Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore leg. There are 3 major low cost airlines that service the South East Asia region. They are Air Asia, Tigerairlines and www.jetstarasia.com.  Airasia fly to Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur from Macau. Tigerairlines fly to Singapore from Macau and Jetstarasia fly to Singapore from Hong Kong.
Macau is a small country situated 60 km from Kong Hong on the Chinese border. Macau’s economy is closely  linked to that of Hong Kong and Guangdong Province. The Hong Kong currency is accepted in Macau and is also of the same value. Budget airlines chose to use Macau international airport as landing changes are a third of those at Hong Kong airport. It is even said it is nearly as easy to get to Macau airport as it is to travel to Hong Kong airport. High speed ferry’s travel every 15 minute between Macau and Hong Kong. Travel time is about 55 minutes. You can even catch a high speed ferry between Hong Kong international airport and Macau without having to go through Hong Kong immigration which takes only 40 minutes. To check out the ferry services click here.

Now that you have been to Kong Hong and the areas surrounding it. Next stop shall be Bangkok. While in Bangkok check out one the most famous backpacking streets of them all. Khao San Road. Here you will find thousands of backpackers from all over the world, sharing a beer and talking about there travels. Click www.khaosanroad.com to learn more about this famous road. While in khaosanroad we highly recommend that you stay at the Rambuttri Village Inn. Clean, well price and is one of the few hotels with a swimming pool in the area.

Once in Bangkok you can head either north or south. Head north and explore trekking trails in Chiang Mai or heading south to check out the southern part of Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore. When traveling the next leg it is highly recommended that you travel by train. It is extremely cheap, a great experience and the overnight sleeping cabins are of a good, clean standard.
Why not go to sleep in one country and wake up in another, saving yourself a nights accommodation. You can travel all the way from Bangkok to Singapore, stopping off on the way for £29. A very good web site that will answer all your questions on train travel in Asia and also anywhere in the world is  ww.seat61.com. Seat61 is set out with photos, maps and prices and its Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore section is excellent. In the south of Thailand lays some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. From Bangkok head to eastern part of Thailand where situated are Ko Samui, Ko Phangan and Ko Toa.
Ko Phangan is the home to the full moon party which attracts 10 000 backpackers to the famous Had Rin Beach and is held once a month. These 3 islands are very famous with backpackers and have everything a backpacker could dream of, party, beaches, diving, swimming and relaxing all at a very reasonable price. Stop off at Surat Thani and catch the ferry over to the island of Ko Samui.

Keep heading your way down north. There are plenty to see. Make your way over to Phuket and the Phi Phi Islands , travel down to Hai Yai, stop in at Penang. Check out the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur. Stopping as you will all the way to Singapore.

If train travel is not your thing then that is not to worry. There are many budget airlines servicing the same destinations. The 3 that are mentioned above are Asia’s biggest but also check out www.nokair.com for airlines travel around Thailand. Both www.phuketair.com and www.bangkokair.com service large parts of Asia but are not necessarily budget airlines.

Once in Singapore it is now time to head to Darwin Australia. Click here to check out our budget airlines to Australia.
